New Services: Long-Term Care Waiver & Children’s Supportive Home Care
Supportive Personal Care Services (SPCS) is proud to announce that we are now a certified provider in the following programs:
- Wisconsin Long-Term Care (LTC) Waiver Program
- Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program
These certifications expand our ability to serve individuals of all ages who require Supportive Home Care (SHC) services to remain safe and independent in their homes and communities.
Supportive Home Care (Adults and Seniors)
Through the Family Care and IRIS waiver programs, SPCS provides Supportive Home Care services for eligible adults and seniors who need assistance with daily living tasks due to age, physical disability, or chronic illness. Services include:
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Meal preparation
- Shopping and errands
- Medication reminders
- Mobility and transferring assistance
- Safety monitoring and supervision
- Personal hygiene support
Eligibility: Adults must be enrolled in an LTC waiver program such as Family Care, IRIS, or Partnership. Services are coordinated with the individual’s care team or IRIS consultant.
Supportive Home Care for Children
Now Available through the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver Program
SPCS now provides Supportive Home Care services for children with developmental disabilities, severe emotional disturbances, or physical disabilities through the CLTS Waiver Program. Services help support the child’s independence, reduce caregiver stress, and enable the family to keep their child safely at home.
Services may include:
- Daily living skill development
- Supervision for safety
- Help with routines and transitions
- Assistance with feeding, hygiene, and mobility
- Community participation support
- Respite for caregivers
How it Works: Families enrolled in the CLTS Waiver can request SPCS as their SHC provider. We work with case managers and service coordinators to ensure a smooth onboarding and care planning process.
Personal Care Services for Children
In addition to Supportive Home Care, SPCS is also certified to provide Personal Care Services for children under the Wisconsin Medicaid program. These services support children with medical or disability-related needs by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and mobility.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Personal Care Services, children must:
- Be enrolled in Wisconsin Medicaid
- Have a physician’s written order indicating that personal care services are medically necessary
- Demonstrate needs that exceed age-appropriate expectations as determined through the Personal Care Screening Tool (PCST)
An in-home assessment will be conducted by a registered nurse to evaluate the child’s needs and determine the number of service hours approved by Medicaid.
Important Note for Parents
Under Wisconsin Medicaid regulations, parents or legally responsible relatives cannot be paid to provide personal care services to their minor children. Families may designate another qualified individual to serve as the caregiver, and SPCS will hire, train, and supervise that caregiver to ensure services are delivered in accordance with DHS guidelines.
